Dr. Tsihrintzis was born in Athens. He holds a Civil Engineering Diploma from the University of Patras, Greece (1982), and MSc (1983) and PhD (1988) degrees from the Hydrosystems Lab, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign , Illinois, USA. Since 1982 he is working in the area of Water Resources Management and Environmental Engineering, with emphasis on Ecological Engineering, Ecohydrology and Ecohydraulics. In the USA, he worked as a Research Associate in the Illinois State Water Survey in Illinois, as a Consulting Engineer in the companies Simons, Li & Assoc. and Psomas & Assoc. in California, and as a Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Florida International University, Miami, Florida. Between 1997 and 2013, he was a Professor in the Department of Environmental Engineering, Democritus University of Thrace, Xanthi, Greece, and since 2013, he is a Professor in the School of Rural and Surveying Engineering, National Technical University of Athens, Athens, Greece.
